In 2012 the company expanded its services by the development of Janet Barlow Community Recovery, offering a client community placement service with professional rehabilitative care. Giving the client the opportunity to live independently with specialist care to assist in building daily living skills, this aims to reduce the chance of relapse and time spent on hospital wards. Clients are supported with all aspects of independent living, with each package customised to the person’s requirements and wishes;
- Support to attend to activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning, shopping and budgeting.
- Medication management.
- Support in making healthy living choices in regards to lifestyle and diet.
- Support meeting appointments.
- Support in becoming socially integrated, with involvement in the local community.
- Support to participate in social and leisure activities.
- Support in helping clients achieve their potential.
The service has access to a wide range of residential accommodation within the Barnsley area through links with local landlord associations, this enables us to find placements of a high quality, in suitable locations and which are financially appropriate to each client.
We believe that each client in our care has the fundamental right to:
- Be regarded as an individual.
- Be cared for by people who are capable of understanding their needs and are competent to meet those needs.
- Be treated equally, and no less favourably than others.
- Receive respect and understanding regarding their cultural, religious and spiritual beliefs.
- Receive prompt attention in relation to all of their healthcare needs.
- Be safe and always know that ‘someone cares’.
- Be informed about all decisions that affect them, and to have a say.
- Be afforded privacy for themselves and protection of their belongings.
- Have the opportunity to think independently, and make their own choices.
- Complain about anything they feel is unfair or unjust, and to have that complaint listened and responded to.
Each client is treated as an individual and all care is tailored, personally, to them, to ensure that their potential, whatever this may be, is met. We will support clients in realising their abilities and achieving their own personal best. Clients will be given the freedom and independence to make their own choices and will be supported and guided along the way. This will help to develop confidence, self worth, and give them a sense of achievement, as well as the opportunity to make mistakes, to learn from them and to use them as a tool for the future.
Care packages can range from 7 hours per week to 24 hour care based upon the individual circumstances.
